The 3rd International Conference on Smart Energy Systems and 4th Generation District Heating, in September 2017, was a very successful event, with around 340 participants from several countries around the World. Looking back to 2012, when we started working with district heating, and especially with low temperature district heating, there was almost no research in these fields. Today, district heating and low-temperature district heating are getting more attention; not only in research but also in policy making. We are very happy with the results of 4DH and the community we were able to gather with our conferences.
It was also my pleasure to contribute for the first time to the programme of the DHC+ Summer School which was organised around the topic “from 3rd to 4th generation DHC networks”.
